Birth Control Options

Choosing the best type of birth control can be difficult with so many options out there. Talking with your health care provider can help you choose the best form of birth control.

Birth control is designed to prevent pregnancy, it can also is some cases help regulate menstrual cycles. Some forms of birth control are hormonal like the pill, the patch, the vaginal ring, injection and Mirena IUD.
These forms of birth control are often used to regulate menstrual cycles and in some cases can reduce the number of cycles a woman has. The pill is taken on a daily basis while the patch and ring are used weekly or monthly. Most of these forms of birth control if used correctly are up to 99% effective in preventing pregnancy.
Other forms of birth control work as a barrier such as condoms, cervical caps, the sponge and copper IUD's. Each of these methods if used correctly can be up to 97% effective in preventing pregnancy. These methods are best for people who don't tolerate hormonal birth control.
