What are the different types of hysterectomy?

Total hysterectomy indicates removal of the entire uterus, including the cervix.

Supracervical hysterectomy indicates removal of the body of the uterus, but the cervix stays in place.

Total hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy—total hysterectomy indicates removal of the uterus and cervix, and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy indicates removal of both tubes and ovaries.
