Pregnancy

Congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to obstetric care from Bellingham Obstetric and Gynecologic Associates. We are a team of health providers devoted to providing the best possible care for you and your baby. While one individual cannot always be available to assist and care for you, as a group we can provide you fully trained specialty care on a 24-hour basis.

Our obstetric group consists of five physicians backed by trained nurses and a superb office staff. As health care providers, we each have many years of specialty training in obstetrics, are members of obstetric professional organizations, and maintain our competency by active participation in continuing medical education. We support and advocate prenatal education, family oriented childbirth, breast-feeding, and healthy and happy pregnancies and births.

Patient Portal

The patient portal allows you securely access your test (lab) results, update your health information, view your account balance, make payments, view or change current appointments and contact your doctor or nurse through secure messaging. We will send an invite to your email and once registered, you can have secure online access. We highly encourage all patients to register for our patient portal.

Ultrasounds

We offer a wide range of obstetric ultrasound services which are easily and safely performed onsite. We pride ourselves on having in house ultrasound technicians that can have your ultrasound images immediately viewable to collaborate directly with your provider.

There is NO video taping or photography allowed to be taken during the ultrasound exam.

3D Ultrasounds

3D Keepsake Ultrasounds are now offered to patients of Bellingham OB/GYN. 3D Keepsake Ultrasounds are non-diagnostic ultrasound that patients can get anytime between their 28th & 34th week of pregnancy. 3D Ultrasounds are special because you get to see your baby in live motion! Printed images and live motion clips are given during these sessions. We provide a relaxing environment, certificated and highly trained sonographers along with weekday appointments to fit all of our patient’s needs and wants! Insurance does not cover this type of ultrasound, please contact our clinic for availability along with pricing.

Best results:

Being well hydrated helps optimize the ultrasound image, therefore we recommend drinking adequate amount of water for a few days prior to and of the day of ultrasound

Have a snack consisting of natural sugars right before your appointment

We recommend you consult your physician prior to scheduling your 3D ultrasound to see if you’re a good candidate.

Some factors out of our control that effect image quality:

Anterior Placenta

Positioning of baby

Maternal factors; such as dehydration and/or excessive abdominal adipose tissue.

  • 30 Minute sessions avaiable
  • Session images saved on a DVD
  • Session video clips saved on a DVD
  • Black/White printed images
  • Gender confirmation (upon request)

Fetal Screening

First trimester screening is a combination of fetal ultrasound, Nuchal Translucency (NT) and maternal blood testing performed during the first trimester of pregnancy. This screening process can help to determine the risk of the fetus having certain birth defects. Screening tests may be used alone or in combination with other tests. When used together, nuchal translucency (NT) screening and maternal blood tests have a greater ability to determine if the fetus might have a birth defect.

If the results of these first trimester screening tests are abnormal, genetic counseling is recommended. Additional testing such as chronic villus sampling (CVS), amniocentesis, cell-free fetal DNA, or other ultrasounds may be needed for accurate diagnosis.

The decision to accept or decline any fetal screening is completely yours. You may wish to consult with a certified genetic counselor before consenting to any test. Ask your healthcare provider for information about genetic counseling resources that are available to you. You can also find a genetic counselor through the National Society of Genetic Counselors at www.nsgc.org.

Employer / Medical Leave Forms

Our requests for medical leave forms have more than doubled in the past few years. The complexity of the forms have also increased. Therefore, we have to pay clinical staff to fill out the paperwork that is requested by your employer and/or insurance company.

WE CURRENTLY CHARGE:
$35 for FMLA Packet
For any additional packets are $10 each

We make every effort to get these forms completed within 7-10 business days, but please allow us time by bringing them to us as early as possible. We kindly ask that you do not wait until the day before they are due to be brought in as we cannot accommodate that quick of a turn around.

Resource Nurse & Emergencies

Routine medical questions should be directed to our office between 8:00 to 4:00 Monday through Friday except for holidays.  We have a Resource Nurse available by phone during those hours to answer questions and begin evaluation of problems.  You may leave a voice message for her, but please be brief; she will call you back for details and further discussion.  Please let the receptionist know if your call is of an emergent or urgent nature, and your call will be attended to as soon as possible.  If you develop a problem that you feel requires urgent attention, it is important to call early in the day to talk with the Resource Nurse so that an appointment can be scheduled appropriately with a physician or the nurse practitioner as needed.  If your question or problem is non-emergent, the Resource Nurse will return your call within a couple of hours, but please stay available by the phone to receive the call or let us know when we can reach you.

If urgent or emergent questions or problems arise outside of office hours, we always can be reached on a 24-hour basis through our answering service at 715-2441.  Please indicate to the answering service the urgency of your call.  If you do not get a return call shortly, it may be because we are taking care of another emergent problem, in surgery, or delivering a baby.  In such cases if we have not gotten back to you within one hour, please call the answering service.  In the case of emergencies, the Childbirth Center at St. Joseph Hospital, 738-6360 can also be called directly.
